San Francisco Design Week is a yearly celebration of creativity and innovation, produced by Design Bay Area under the leadership of CEO Dawn Zidonis. Held in early June, the event brings together designers through a dynamic lineup of exhibitions, talks, and experiences that explore how design shapes the world around us.
Highlights included Design Trivia Night at Specs, hosted by William Stout Architectural Books and the Eames Institute, which offered a fun and insightful evening for design enthusiasts. Rivian’s event on design and sustainability spotlighted how aesthetics and environmental responsibility can go hand-in-hand.
The exhibit “Closer Than They Appear” co-hosted by re.riddle and Storefront Anand Sheath, presented a powerful reflection on identity and form through a multi-studio showcase with featured artists including Elizabeth Barely, Fyrn, Studio Hecha, Sierra Kanistanaux, Kaarhaus, Medium Small, Cecilia Mignon, Studio Mondragón, Anna Monet Studio, AG Nwosu Ceramics, Alex Olwal, Ellen Porch, soft-geometry, Andy Vogt, and Yaaqee Studio x Saint. The New Company’s Studio Crawl opened doors to some of the Bay Area’s most innovative design spaces, while the Case Study House #26 Open House honored a preserved 1962 mid-century modern home.
The Umber Talk Show brought together Black and Brown voices in design and creativity. Through candid conversations and storytelling, the event celebrated cultural depth, aesthetic exploration, and community-building. SF Design: Then / Now / Next event offered a compelling look at the city's evolving creative identity.
Alongside numerous other events such as Adobe, MMclay Studio. + Showroom, Google, TINT Gallery, Pinterest and numerous more, these events showcased the depth and diversity of San Francisco’s design community.
