One of the most significant challenges creatives face is breaking into their chosen profession. Even with talent, training, and a strong portfolio, the job market can be incredibly unpredictable for creatives. Many industries are oversaturated, competition is challenging, and opportunities are often limited to those with insider connections or prior experience creating a frustrating cycle for newcomers trying to get started. Freelance gigs may be inconsistent or underpaid, full-time roles are highly selective, and many job postings are vague, requiring candidates to navigate unclear expectations or submit speculative work without guarantee of compensation.

Enter Surely Work, an online job board built specifically for freelancers and employers across all creative industries. Founded in Los Angeles in 2022, they stand out by emphasizing  the value of creativity and fostering a thriving, supportive community. This vision was at the core of founder Joseph Morrison’s mission: to create a platform where creatives could not only find work, but feel seen, supported, and fairly compensated.

With over 1,066 job listings and growing, it spans across various locations, offering both local and remote opportunities. Beyond job matching, the platform places an emphasis on helping creatives earn what they deserve through features like grant support, skill-based badges, and engagement tools that help talent stand out in competitive markets. These opportunites lead to Surely Work collaborting with tech companies that pushes their work beyond the surface level.

In addition to its digital offerings, the Surely Work team actively cultivates real-world connections through in-person events, such as the Driftwood Coffee Pop-Up in May 2025, a collaborative exhibition with IKEA Residency, and a collaborative dinner with KIKI and Friend of a Friend. These initiatives reflect their holistic approach, combining skill-building, exposure, and meaningful networking to elevate creatives at every stage of their journey.
